Sudden Parenthood | Anthro Phoenix TF
You found yourself walking alone in the forest on this chilly winter morning. You had the day off from work today, and you decided to spend it going outside and taking a walk. Something you rarely had the energy to do these days.
But either way, you were out here now, and you were going to savor it for all that it was worth. You were going to walk out here for like 2 and a half hours, feel that sun you desperately needed on your skin, listen to the sounds of the birds chirping…
…It was then you noticed something off with the chirping of the birds…you could vaguely hear the sounds of a bird you’d never heard before…and it sounded…afraid?
You felt a mix of curiosity and worry well up inside you as you strained your ears, trying to figure out just where that call was coming from…eventually you could just barely tell that it was coming from a clearing just off the beaten path. You quickly moved towards the sound of the chirping, pushing away a few overhanging branches. Soon the chirping began to get louder, indicating that you were on the right track. That or the bird was just getting more afraid. Either way, you needed to find this thing…
You continued to step through the leaf and twig-covered ground, and soon enough, you would come to the source of the chirping.
It was a small bird, no doubt it was a baby…it was laying under a nest that had been reduced to rubble. The bird itself looked very weak and was chirping out desperately.
Your eyes widened as you ran over to the bird and gently scooped it up in your hands, cradling the small thing and petting its head with your thumb. It weakly turned its head towards you and let out a small peep. Now that you had a closer look at it…nope. You still couldn’t tell what kind of bird it was. It was a bright mix of vibrant colors, ranging from red, to yellow, and orange, and its legs were a bright, nearly white grey.
You’d have to worry about that later, for now you held the baby bird against your chest, covering most of its body with your hand to keep it warm. You wondered just how long it had been there…and why it was all alone to begin with… It trembled in your hold, and you could tell it was very scared…you kept trying to pet it, to let it know you weren’t a threat to it…but you didn’t know if it was doing much.
Eventually though, you would arrive back home. You got a small bowl and squished a blanket into it, then sat the baby bird down in the center, proceeding to wrap it up to its head in the blanket. You hoped that would keep it warm…You also didn’t know whether or not your apartment would allow pets or not…but you’d worry about that later. For now you had to focus on getting that poor bird back to health.
A couple days passed, you kept taking care of the bird, you had to use a turkey baster to feed it milk, but once you ignore the irony of that, things went rather well. It wouldn’t be long before the bird was sitting straight up in its bowl and peeping happily at you whenever you entered its line of sight. It not only looked healthier, but it was clearly growing, too. You knew you’d have to part ways with it soon…but now the little thing had grown on you. You knew it was going to be hard to let it go, but it had to be done…
A couple more days passed, and the bird was continuing to get healthier and stronger. It was now beginning to walk, oddly upright, but you weren’t focused on that. It was also beginning to try and flap its wings, and it even began to take flight a few times. You decided it was now or never, and you got a cardboard box, padded it with a blanket, set the bird down in it, and head back out to the forest to release the bird.
As you got to the place where you initially found it, it began to peep sadly, as if it would be sad to leave you as well. You tried to softly tell it that it was a wild animal, and it belonged out in the wild, but A; You weren’t sure if it could understand you. And B; you felt like an idiot talking to a bird like this.
But what happened next shocked you to your core.
The bird looked dead at you with a sad expression. “…Wanna…stay…” It spoke to you.
It…spoke to you?!
The shock of that nearly caused you to drop the box entirely.
“Y-You can talk?!” You exclaimed in shock. The bird nodded slowly in response. “A…little…” It said quietly.
You were at a loss for words for several seconds before your mouth finally found the courage to speak. Oddly enough…despite it being chilly outside, you were beginning to feel very warm, and your neck was beginning to itch.
“Uh…Why didn’t you talk before?” You asked it, trying to scratch your neck. And when you did, it felt…softer?
In response to your question, the bird slowly lifted its wing up and pointed to your neck. That’s when you finally looked down.
You could see feathers. Vibrant ones, just like the little bird’s. The feathers were sprouting out of your skin and spreading downwards. You looked down your shirt and watched as the bright plumage consumed your torso. At that moment you really did drop the box, and the bird had to fly up to watch your transformation.
You stepped back in shock as your body temperature continued to climb, and the feathers continued to spread down your arms. Your fingers began to tingle, which slowly got more and more intense until your fingers went numb completely. It was like all the muscle and bone inside them had vanished completely, but yet you were still able to move them. While you were trying to straighten out the confusion of that, the feathers fully consumed your arms, and your fingers became a set of feathers at the end of your new wings that merely resembled fingers.
“W-Woah…! What is this?!” You yelled out, feeling your lips dry out and your nose feel oddly hard and heavy.
“W-Will…Explain….wh-when done…” The bird whimpered, seemingly afraid that you were angry.
You were then unable to breathe for a moment as your face began to rearrange its structure. Your nose melded into your face, and your lips began to melt into each other, the skin around what was once your nose and mouth began to harden and turn grey, then began to stretch away from your face, curving slightly downwards at the end. A slit then appeared in the middle of it, horizontally, and you opened your new beak and took a deep breath. Before you could process that however, your hair began to fall out, being pushed out by more feathers, which quickly coated your entire face. They also grew longer towards the back of your head, creating a sort of crest.
Your legs began to feel dryer, and oddly smaller? You lifted up your pant legs, (which was somewhat difficult considering your new feather-fingers), and saw that from below your knees, your legs had become thinner, and covered in bright grey scales.
Your transformation was nearly over, but not done just yet. Your shoes began to get extremely and uncomfortably tight, and you could also feel pressure building up in the back of your pants. Your shoes would be the first to go though, your new sharp talons quickly tore the tops from the soles, and they fell right off, allowing you to step away from the scrapped footwear.
Once that was done, a massive fan of tail feathers exploded from the back of your pants like a plume of lava from a volcano. Your eyes widened and you turned around a few times, feeling as the tail feathers sliced through the air like knives…
You expected the transformation to be done by this point, but nope. It wasn’t. Your entire body was overcome by a light ache and a sense of heaviness, as if you’d just gotten done with a workout. Ironically, the reason for this feeling was because you were growing larger and more muscular. Your feathery chest pressed uncomfortably against your sweater, and you could feel the sleeves beginning to rip around your wings. It wouldn’t be long before your sweater practically exploded off you. This caused the little bird to flinch and make a noise of nervousness.
Your pants would go next. Throughout the entirety of your shirt’s demise, they’d been holding on for dear life as your growing legs caused more and more tears to appear in them, before they were finally reduced to nothing more than scraps of fabric all over the ground.
You looked down at your transformed body. You felt…powerful. You were as tall as a basketball player by now, built like a tank, yet your feathers provided enough softness to be perfectly huggable. Along with all that, you felt hot. Not in terms of sexiness, but temperature. It was like you were standing in direct sunlight in the middle of Summer despite the fact you were in a shady forest during Autumn.
You looked back to the bird, who had backed itself into the corner of the box and was shaking nervously. You got down on one knee (Which felt slightly uncomfortable as you no longer had any clothes to shield your knee from the ground) and held your wings out to the bird.
“Hey…hey, it’s alright, little guy…I’m not mad.” You spoke to it softly. Thankfully that seemed to be enough to get it to calm down, and it waddled over to our wings.
“Ph-Pheenik magic…transforms wh-who we…talk to…” It whispered.
“…So that’s why you didn’t say anything.” You said. The bird nodded in response. “Well, what’s your name?” You asked it.
The Phoenix shook its head. “N-no name…d-didn’t get…one…”
“Well…uh…how about…Flame?”
A small smile spread across the Phoenix’s face (Despite it having a beak. Odd.) and Flame nodded excitedly.
You gently scooped him up in your wings and began to head home. He quickly fell asleep with his face buried in your feathers.
You smiled at this…your life would be forever changed by this point, but you thought you liked where it was going now.
…You wondered how you were going to be able to afford a whole new wardrobe to fit your new body.
