One day in early April, I was doing a bunch of driving for work, and thinking about how maybe had things gone differently in my life, maybe I wouldn't have minded being a trucker or even some sort of delivery driver...

"Trucker" seems like a pretty good career for a couple of my characters, given Buck's wanderlust, or the general blue-collar vibes of Dom Duncan or Big Jack Hawthorne (that is already a trucker name if I ever saw one), but I decided that maybe it suits Hendrick Hynek. It seems I'm setting a precedent for hyenas to be truckers in-universe, with Macario "Mack" Cardona already being established as a trucker as well.
It would definitely give Hendrick plenty of freedom to travel and explore, but it would also mean that he and Jack might not spend as much time together as I would honestly like them to.
As I thought about it a bit more, I decided that maybe Hendrick wouldn't have to be a long-haul trucker, but could possibly drive locally for one of the factories or distributors or suppliers, and I even considered that he might deliver for one of the foodservice suppliers, which would give him an excuse to drop off supplies at the Bennetton's Pizza Place among other locations my other characters work at. This would give me a decent opportunity to have Hendrick know a variety of characters, at least in passing, from his work. This would even include Nico Reynard, since he works at the pizza place, which would make the whole Jack x Hendrick x Nico three-way far less awkward as Hendrick and Nico would at least know each other somewhat beforehand.
Either way, whether Hendrick drives an 18-wheeler cross-country, or just a smaller truck delivering supplies to some smaller restaurants and shops in Hartford, it seems he's found himself in a lonely parking lot by the train tracks... finally giving me an opportunity to use one of my favorite photos from early May 2023, featuring some of the best graffiti I've ever seen. Of course, I'm a bit partial to this one, being a fan of Tom and Jerry, but it's still one of the most unique rail car graffiti jobs I've ever seen.
I'm not sure how the etiquette for this sort of thing goes since I'm making use of a photo featuring another artist's work as part of my own art, or how to credit the artist that painted up that boxcar (or even *who* to credit), but on the off chance they see this, I just want them to know it made my day when I saw it last year (and I really hope there's a matching Jerry boxcar out there somewhere).
