I wanted to do something completely original using only samples I've made myself.
What you are hearing:
A music box that was in my crib when i was a baby.
A Violin that belonged to a friend who's since passed on. it's over 65 years old.
A 50's/60's chord organ that was given to me when i was 4. it was sentimental.
A Bamboo Pan-pipe I found in an old abandoned house.
A Bell from an old Stromburg-Carlson Wall phone circa 1953. Its still in use.
Each of these were sampled by me.
Each of these samples have been adjusted to pitch/lengthened where need be.
Each item is something that's been kicking around for years as a knick-knack.
I attempted to put some variety into this, but failed.
I did add some chorus and a lot of reverb to it to add depth to otherwise dry mono samples.
Its just something I attempted to make sort of creepy, charming, and unique.
Its the only tune I've ever done using such a time signature.
It took just a few hours.
Anyhow. if you'd like the midi file, any of the samples, or just think it's cool, please leave some kind of comment. I thrive on feedback. And its depressing when nobody comments.

That's exactly what i did.
The music box was a little tricky, I had to pull the cord on it then hold it back and gently release it till a single note sounded, then stop dead in my tracks.
And for the phone I had to take the lid off to get to the bells.
The Organ was very hard to get a clean recording of, since it made a lot of wind and motor noise.
The violin i used as a cello, just slowing the notes way down.
Its just a simple repeating part played in different keys, but its something. and something is better then nothing.

The trick to getting good samples like this is getting rid of any and all noise.
Its not very easy unless your in a place with grounded outlets and very few electronic devices running.
For instance: to record that violin, i used the shitty built in mic on my dads Dell Laptop.
To do so, i had to unplug his aquarium filter, (it sounds like a damn waterfall)
I had to shut off his florescent desk lamp Since the ballast was humming like crazy.
I had to shut off the fan, his air conditioner, and wait till him and mom were out of the house.
plus i had to wait till the bird was asleep. xD
They live in an apartment built in the 50's with ungrounded outlets too. So everything hums.
Most if not all of them I recorded multiple times till i got something right.
And no, i can't play the violin, I just BARELY managed to play a steady single note to record. and I had to play it on a keyboard first
to check if it was close to an A. then later it was pitch corrected.
Cheating? kinda. but at least it works. :P
