Do you recall the original Leo Summers illustrations, for the Analog serial? Back in the early '70s, they captivated me.

Your version of the Ythrian form is quite different, but just as convincing.

Yeah, and may still have the original issues somewhere. Always felt that the feathers would cover the body more than in those illos.

What fascinated me about the approach taken by Summers was that he made the Ythrians seem feral, dangerous, and definitely alien. For me, it was a high point of his work.

(And that was 38 years ago...! I seem to have missed a few decades.... )
