I don't think I've ever felt both dread and empathy for some nameless little doodle character, but God damn you really carried across the kobolds fear and loneliness as he became aware. Like genuinely, kudos dude! That's really, really awesome to do that so well

There is something that is really bringing me close to tears reading this. The growing discomfort and dispair as he starts retaining memories and suddenly screaming for help and wanting any sort of interaction other than being killed, the confusion ans sadness the little guy feels...it is all really sad and well conveyed.
I hope this gets a followup, just because I really want him to feel better

Watching that episode was a pretty significant inspiration, mostly because I was disappointed that the character could have been an interesting exploration between AI and humans but then he died. That is, the episode ultimately disappointed me so I wanted to make something myself I guess

I would want to make the rest of this story about the way AI and humans would interact, were AI to become sentient

Yeah it was disappointing alright. You know what makes it more disturbing though? When you realize Caine is also an AI and he created Gummigoo. So depending on your view of things you might consider Caine the parent of Gummigoo and….well…yeah.
