The bulk of the Blackwave's demon forces are made up of single souls contained and corrupted by darkness called Whelps, the lowest ranked demons of the entire legion. They are shadowy figures with a cocoon of dark magic around them that encapsulates the soul of a single person, the trapped soul burning inside of their chest and emitting a small glow like candlelight. Each Blackwave conquered world is teeming with whelps and they make up the majority of every Blackwave invasion force. While any decent spell caster could defeat one and free the soul inside, they should not be underestimated. Massive hordes of them can quickly overwhelm even a skilled warrior as they are incredibly hostile to any life form that isn't of the Blackwave.
