Spending night in the hunting lodge, Maks suggested staying another day to investigate the surroundings.
– I’ll go explore, be back in a couple of hours, I think I can cover several tens of kilometers at a time. – Maks said to M’Ria.
– So much? How fast are you really? – Although M’Ria has seen him in action, but his abilities still surprise her. Maks only grinned at it and left the lodge.
– Meanie. – She pouted and stuck her tongue out at the closed door, but not really being angry. – Well, what to do? Hmm.. Maybe?.. – M’Ria remembered the new magic tome she started reading recently. It was the work of one long-forgotten mage who devoted himself to the study of numerous flora and its magical and alchemical application. There were also several spells, but with no detailed description, only its name and instruction how to use it. Maybe the name contains all the necessary information, but her omnitool translates it literally, because it was in another ancient language. M’Ria opened the book on the first spell she spotted. “Lossë ilin ilё ingolë” the name stated, or “Flower blue star spell” as omnitool translated.
– “Spell of the blue flower star”? Or its “magic star of the blue flower”? Well, If I don't try, I won't know. I guess nothing bad will happen. What’s written next?.. – She muttered under her breath, reading further. – “...direct your intention to fertile soil and say the following words...” Aha! Let’s try it! Fortunately, there is an empty pot of soil; I think everything will work out. – M’Ria took one of the pots from the shelf and put it on the table. She concentrated her magic in her hand, pointing it at the pot, and cast the spell. An enigmatic glow appeared from her hand and absorbed by the soil. And... Nothing happened. A second, two, three... Still nothing.
– Come on! – M’Ria sat on the chair and stared at the pot. – What’s wrong with you? Why... – She dropped her head on her arms. – Why am I... feel so... tired?.. – Saying it, M’Ria fell asleep sitting right at the table. That spell turned out to be very energy consuming.
Returning to the lodge Maks felt that M’Ria suddenly fell asleep, which was very unusual, so he sped up. Entering inside he found his lifemate sleeping on the table. Maks shook her shoulder trying to wake her up.
– Hey, M’Ria, wake up you sleepy head. – She muttered something incomprehensible, and raised her head.
– Ah.. Wha... A-a-a-ah, wha-a-a-ah-t happened? – Yawning, M’Ria asked.
– You tell me. I sensed a several minutes ago that you were unconscious and rushed here to find you sleeping on the table surrounded by the roses. Also, where did they came from? – He asked.
– Wha-what roses? Wo-o-ow. – She looked around and saw that in every pot there were beautiful blue roses. Their petals of different shades of blue glimmered like a gems, and every flower was as big as her fist. – So that's what the spell do.
– What spell? – Maks frowned.
– Well, there was a spell... In that book... And so it happened that I casted it... Sorry. – M’Ria looked like a beaten kitten. Maks sighed heavily.
– Remind me to tell you not to experiment with unknown spells alone. Again.
