The amulet had been altered, true to their word. Rather than a constant stream of blessed oxygen while diving, its magic shifted to a stronger blessing...or curse; Rangy wasn't yet sure after his two flippant companions egged on this development. He expected fins, but the row upon row of spikes along his long, looong tail...his only tail, no longer three. Rangy bit at the ocean water that enveloped him. Cursing himself for adopting both form and humor, he folded his arms and tried to play cool.
"I can understand the lack a' legs," the piscine pirate wriggled, "but the lack a' shirt?"
The catfish giggled as the tigerfish roiled a tale: "A precaution of mer travel, you see; can't have anyone knowing you were a three-tail! Mhm!"
"Hmph."
