Gargoyles are often misunderstood. Monstrous and frightening to most (human) eyes and mistrusted on account, with little care for the soft hearts and gentle souls that hide behind sharp fangs and fearsome claws.
A lot of myths and misconceptions plague black cats. Often the least likely to be adopted, more likely to be euthanized, and regarded as evil or unlucky in some cultures.
What is there to do but for outcasts to find and shelter each other, and make their own families when no others will have them?
…But what then of the outcast among the outcasts? The one who is only welcome on the periphery? Who can draw near and abide for a time, but is, somehow, always kept at a distance and left on the outside?
