Vaguely reminds me of an idea I had where unfortunate people are stolen on the down low by corporations that specialise in robot technology where they are converted from organic to machine via nanites.

The brain is chipped and wiped replaced with the programming of whatever model they are becoming.

The story that I have for this idea is that as someone was having his mind wiped, a critical malfunction happened which led to a failure to wipe the human's memories. He later wakes up in packaging, ripping his way out.

(the design of the machine he has become has no mouth and requires mechanite slurry, unfortunately for the man now machine, the port for this slurry is on the back which he cannot reach without aid)
