Crescent was hired to search The Cave of Origin to find the Red Orb that was stolen from Mt. Pyre, despite the cave not hiding any secrets or booby traps, the bird did enjoy seeing the cave. However unkown to the Dark Bird he encountered the Mythical Pokemon Groudon going crazy, Crescent may not have found the Red Orb, but wasn't going to miss the opportunity to fight a Main Series Legend like himself.
The battle raged on and Crescent won, already wearing the helpless Groudon as a diaper, something new to add to his legendary collection.

When he left the Cave, he spotted the familiar dragon Vincent whom was secretly snapping photos from in the cave and photographed every moment of the battle. Vincent convinced him to be in another shoot which he agreed to as the Dark Bird loves getting under Mercury's hide and knows this'll rile him up.
Despite Crescent's actions, the bird knows hot to pose with grace and elegance, (Very uncommon for the death pokemon). Vincent made sure to take lots of photos for the magazine and Crescent got to keep a pack of Groudon diapers (or Pampdons). Crescent's slogan for the shoot says "I'm better at this than you Mercury" as he knows how to get under Mercury's skin.

Crescent's fan club already buying subscriptions and Kel and Leon having a hard time keeping up with the Groudon diapers. Mercury saw this and was annoyed and was gonna try to one up him as he the star, not Dark Bird. Meanwhile at the Ragtag House, Pampaku of course getting enraged and would find a way to look better in magazines.

Crescent may not have found the Red Orb, but at least he has new legendary diapers for his collection.
