They definitely can climb that high, but they don't typically hunt from trees; more often they use them to escape threats, like a pack of wolves, or trained tracking dogs.

Ah ok gotcha, I've lived in areas with Puma's but they are so elusive that most people only see them a handful of times in their entire lives.

I live in an area with them too. I've had one dash out in front of me while I was riding a bicycle, that was rather startling. Amazing to see though.
My roommate saw one while she was walking in a nearby park. I've seen prints in the snow in the general area. A friend north of here had one camp out on top of his woodpile under the woodshed at his summer house over a winter.

We've definitely had neighbors be late for work because they'd wake up with a Puma camped out on their patio or something, but I haven't seen any that close yet.
KInda hoping if it ever happens that I see one from a safe spot (like from inside my car), ha ha.
They are very interesting animals, but so stealthy that most people aren't even aware that they are nearby.
