Chapter 5: Falling Star
“It had been a few months since I was forced to leave my home, Starr Way. My name is Amy Rosalina and I am stuck in my ship, with the autopilot on, I am forced to travel between galaxies with my best friend, a yellow star named Luna.”
The girl has pink hair with peach-like skin and is wearing a blue dress with pink stars around the dress.
“Amyyy…. How far until we reach wherever this ship is going? Are you sure your father programmed this right?” Luna whimpered as she hugged her friend.
“Like I said many times… I do not know, Luna. The Galaxy is very vast and I saw something like a ground and water planet's coordinates were programmed as he sent us flying. We just have to wait and see.” Amy said as she petted the star on the head
“OK…. hopefully it will be soon!” Luna said
A few hours later from Kuma's point of view, he was about to leave Lemuria.
“You had to go so soon? If we have more time, we could learn more.” Baratus asked.
“Sorry Baratus as much I appreciate the effort, and besides your Father’s side of the story and even if it is true… It may be a small lead until I figure out more of the story. And even you and your…. friend can communicate and work together. I can’t seem to reach him or her… The next thing is to go home and figure something out.” Kuma said as he looked at the journal in his hand and put it in his bag.
“I understand, little guy and I appreciate the help you gave me.” Baratus said with a smile.
“Me? Help? Naw bud… I didn't do much. All I did was speak the truth…” Kuma shrugged.
“And we all need to hear it. Thank you, Kuma and I hope you find some comfort in truth later on, especially your friend inside. I sense him but it is locked away. What you need is to find the gatekeeper, the person who forced him to be sealed within you. Or rather find the magic ”Key” that locked the seal.” Baratus said
“Make sense. For my whole life, I feel like I have a split personality or something, I don’t know how to explain.” Kuma said.
“In a way, You knew the whole time.” Baratus said.
“I guess… You’re right. Somehow I’ll figure it out.” Kuma said
“That’s the spirit, little guy!” Baratus said as he gave his friend a pat on the back.
“Thanks, Baratus. So what about you? They need a new King.” Kuma asked,
“I’ll take care of everything, little guy.” Baratus said.
“And the war…? I know how you feel about fighting.” Kuma asked as he could see a few guards in the entrances looking tense.
“I’ll try to back off somehow… but even if I do… I’m sure both sides will still feel remorse or even hate for each other, so it’ll take some time. But I’ll have the same goal as your Father’s.” Baratus said as he gave off a thumbs up.
“Right…. I hope it works out! Well, I’ll be off now!” Kuma said as he waved at Baratus.
“Right! Have a safe journey!” Batratus said as waved back.
Freedo jumped out in happiness, landed on Baratus’s chest, and licked his cheek.
“Hahahaha that’s tickles! Hope We can meet again, Freedo. Take care of him, will you?” Baratus asked, smiling at the small lizard.
Freedo chirps as if he confirmed and jumps back to Kuma’s shoulder.
“Hehehe, looks like we got a new friend now. Bye-bye, Baratus!” Kuma said.
Both newfound friends waved at each other as Kuma left Lemuria to head back home.
A day went by later and Kuma was still about 2 days before reaching back to Nibel. The sun had started to set.
“Damn, it is already dark… I guess I better set up camp.”
Kuma had put up a tent as he rubbed two woods together. “Damn, it would be easier if I know some fire magic to make this faster. Almost got it…. There!” Kuma said as the wood crackled into the fire as the campfire was made.
Shortly after the camp was set up, Freedo went down to the ground and lay next to him on the wooden log as Kuma sat down.
“Phew… the last few days have been crazy… meeting the prince already and all the crazy stuff I learned about…. Could the truth I yearn to learn be darker than now?” Kuma asked himself as he sighed, looking up at the starry sky.
“Huh? Is that…” Kuma mumbled as he began to see a few meteors slinging through the sky. “…. Oooo a meteor shower! But I thought we were not expecting it until a… month later… Wh-?”
One of the meteorites seemed to be different from the rest as it went off course and veered toward Kuma's location.
“One of them is coming here!?” Kuma exclaimed.
The meteor crashed and landed it made a booming noise as Kuma quickly hid behind a rock, holding Freedo with the giant rock shielding them from the shockwave.
“Geez! Talk about too close for comfort! What was that?! Perhaps I should take a look.” Kuma said as he looked at the crash site.
Freedo chirped as he just hopped on Kuma’s shoulder.
Kuma walked slowly to the crash site, with his hand on the blade, in case it was a trap of some sort. As he got closer to a newly formed crater, he seemed to be some sort of spaceship.
“What is this machine?! Is it Bait? No… he is still back at Nibel’s brig…. So who?” Kuma whispered to himself as He carefully headed to the top of the ship it opened by itself with some steam coming out of it.
“What the….?” Kuma said as He and Freedo crept over the opened hatch as they saw a young human-like girl pass out, clutching a star-shaped friend as if she was trying to protect her little friend. “A-a human? But I thought they were rare… what is she doing here?” Kuma asked himself as he heard something else.
The ship started to rapidly beep loudly and Kuma understood immediately.
“Oh crap!” Kuma shouted as he quickly grabbed the girl and the star he jumped down and instantly made an ice shield, instantly overlapping around them as the ship blew up, protecting them from the blast.
“Phew…. That was close. I may not know this girl… but I can’t just leave her here! *Said as he quickly takes her to the campsite.”
Some time later throughout the night, Kuma is still cooking some curry when the girl starts to wake up around the same time.
“O-oh…. What happened…. Where am I?” Amy asked as she blinked her eyes a few times then rubbed them off as she saw that she was inside a tent, seeing the large chimera cooking some food.
"Amy, you're finally up! I was worried you wouldn't wake up!" Luna exclaimed as she hugged the girl.
“Luna, I’m so glad you’re ok. But… we’re not on our ship anymore… I remember we were falling and… wait how did we get out?” Amy asked.
“That's because I got you out.” Kuma said as he walked to her with a bowel in his head but instead of hearing an thanks, he accidentally spooked her.
“Ahhhhh… who are you?! Are you a monster?! Are you hired to track me down and kidnap me?!” Amy exclaimed as she knocked the bowel out of Kuma’s hands with her wand, pointing at Kuma.
“ Whoa whoa whoa! Calm down!” Kuma shouted as he raised his arms up. “I mean you no harm! Even though I was, why did I save you?”
Amy was panting hard as she analyzed the place. She saw the bowel she knocked down earlier was full of food and then looked at the Chimera who was doing nothing but raising his arms and taking a few steps back.
“Amy, wait! It is ok! This guy saved us.” Luna exclaimed as she went between Amy and Kuma, protecting Kuma from the wand.
“H-he did? You did? Why?” Amy asked as she lowered the wand.
“You passed out and the ship you were on was about to blow up and well… I had to help.” Kuma said as he kept his arms up to show he means no harm,
“I see… Well thank you for the help. Sorry for almost zapping you..” Amy said as she made her wand vanished.
“Phew…. It is fine. I can understand why.” Kuma said as he put his hands down. “Here you must be hungry.” Kuma said as he grabbed an extra bowl from the campfire and handed it to her.
“Thanks” Amy said as she took the bowl from him.
Kuma and Amy went to the campfire as they sat together, eating their meals.
“So what is this place, sir? Where did I crash land?” Amy asked as she looked at the sky full of stars.
“Please just call me Kuma. And you crashed near the middle of Demon Cross.” Kuma answered.
“Demon Cross? Like we’re in the Demon Realm?!” Amy asked.
“No no no…. Not really. This whole land is called that. We’re in the regular realm….” Kuma said.
“Oh…” Amy exclaimed as she looked around the land. “Then we’re on Earth?”
“E-earth? What is Earth?” Kuma asked as he shrugged a bit thinking about the new world he heard.
“That would be your planet name. I don’t suppose you travel to the sky?’ Amy said.
“We have birds that can fly high. Wait, I’m sorry where did you come from and… and you’re a human right?” Kuma asked.
“In a way kinda, but not really? I am Amy Rosalina and I come from Starr Way.” Amy said.
“Starr Way? Never heard any place with that name in Demon Cross” Kuma said as he crossed his arms, trying to think of a place that matches the name.
“It is not here. Just way up there.” Amy said as she pointed to the sky.
“So you live in the sky?” Kuma asked.
“More like way higher than the blue skies you see.” Amy said
“That high up?!” Kuma said as he looked up.
As Kuma looked up the sky, Freedo come out of Kuma’s fur as he crawled to Amy, checking her out.
“Ahhhh…” Amy shouted as she was jumpscared by Freedo. “You didn’t tell me you own a dragon.”
“Huh? Oh! That is Freedo! Don’t worry he doesn’t bite unless he needs too. And what do you mean by a dragon? He’s not a dragon, he's a lizard.
“Wow you don’t know much about space and now this guy? Well I only read books about them and they’re very rare. He’s actually a Solar Dragon. They are known to absorb energy to use to eat and grow and power up.” Amy explained.
“What? No way! He’s a dragon? I mean he did absorb a few magic tiles but that’s it for his battle form well… that’s what he wants to call it.!” Kuma said.
“It is more than that. How did you come across him?” Amy said.
“Well… actually I found him as an egg. Like I was out of the palace I grew up in and there was this glowing Freedo’s egg which I thought was a rock. And boom he just hatched in my hand and I just adopted him.” Kuma said as he petted Freedo’s head. “Since then he wouldn’t leave my side.”
“I see. H—he doesn’t bite, does he?“ Amy asked.
“Nah he doesn’t bite. He only does it if he doesn’t like someone or like I said, when need absorb some mana to power up.” Kuma said.
“Oh I see.” Amy softly spoke as she reached to Freedo’s head and gave him a pat on the head, with Freedo letting out a soft grow
“Oh hehe he doesn’t do that to many people that quickly.” Kuma exclaimed as he was surprised how open Freedo was to her already.
“Oh really?” She asked as she looked at Kuma’s big monster-like appearance and looked back at Freedo. “I’m sure I know why.”
“Mmm…” Kuma said as he looked up at the sky, releasing how long it had been. “Well as much I want to keep chatting and all, I’m sure we can go sleep for now, and you can explain more when we’re rested”
“Oh ok. Wait, we're sleeping here? Out of nowhere?” Amy asked as she looked around, seeing nothing for miles.
“Sorry Princess, even as much as I want the bed too. This is the next best thing we have. I don’t expect any company but you can sleep in my tent.” Kuma said. “Plus once we get to my home, I can ask Tuskarr to see if he can fix your ship.”
“Tuskarr? Who is that?” Amy asked.
“He’s the best mage around as well as cool on building machines. He can help you. And your ship is uhhhh…. Toasted, and busted” Kuma said as he quickly set up the large tent.
“Good point and I suppose it's the best thing for now. Thanks kuma.” Amy smiled. “Better off doing something than nothing to get back home”
“Of course, you’re lucky it’s just me around. But tomorrow you can come with me to head to my place, of course I want to make a first stop tomorrow to see some sightseeing.” Kuma chuckled as he just remembered the thing is tomorrow”
