Several islands can be found off the eastern coast of Arcadia. Some formed via volcanic activity, while others were separated from the mainland due to rising sea levels. Whatever the case, they are now home to an array of creatures that took the chance they were given and diversified into several different forms.

Some became smaller, and others became larger.

The Verda Raptor is a theropod dinosaur native to one of the islands off the coast of Arcadia. Found specifically on the island of Agita, it is an example of a phenomenon known as island gigantism. In the absence of larger drakes and wyverns, this once tiny hunter became one of the top predators of its home.

This solitary hunter prowls through the jungles of Agita in search of prey. During the dry season, however, several individuals group up into loose mobs to take down larger and tougher prey. Usually, the biggest and most aggressive individual takes the tastiest parts of the kill for him or herself.

Being roughly the size of a Deinonychus, this raptor poses a real threat to the average person... though exceptional individuals, such as Najila can stare a Verda Raptor down and now worry about it. These dinosaurs are wise and perceptive enough to notice when a potential prey item is too much for them... and when it could obliterate them with a single well-aimed spell.
