I dunno much about the history of rap cause its never been my thing but I do know he started out as an intern at a record company and threw parties that managed to attract big name stars at the time. Cause of both dude formed connections and when he was fired he started his own record company. Using his conncections he climbed his way up that ladder, leeching of big name rappers he befrended during that time like Notorious B.I.G. Simply put he was a social parasite who rose to fame due to the publicity of being associated with big rappers.

After that he made it big and got rich, which made it easier for him to be degenerate asshole (When I say degenerate I dont mean weird/gross furry fetish degeneracy, thats practically harmless. Im talking about the degeneracy that gets people sent to Hell for being monsters, Sodom and Gomorrah degeneracy that made God just straight up vaporize those cities for being so absurdly evil). Dude became part of the rich Hollywood celebrity elites that do heinous shit and get away with for decades like Weinstein did untill someone finally had the balls to speak out.
