This is the problem I have with the whole fat fetish Sangheili stuff. I like belly buttons, but I also like realism and anatomical correctness. Sang jellies are hatched through eggs so they don't have umbilical cords. Just imagine...if you saw this fatty in real life, wouldn't it be strange if he has a belly button? And you can't say 'but he's fictitious' because Sangheili are real (my roommate is a Sangheili and he told me that Sangheili are real)
Also I sometimes draw bellybuttons on them but it's becoming more rare...I neeeeed immersion!

If you want to get super duper technical about it, all animals have belly buttons, even egg laying species. It's just that umbilical scarring left behind from the yolk sac is far less prominent than umbilical cord scarring. We have actually even found fossilized evidence of dinosaurs having "belly buttons."

Well my favorite look for Sangheili is from Halo 2 Anniversary, and the updated model for Thel does have a pretty prominent belly button / umbilical scar but I don't think it's a bad look for them to have totally smooth bellies either. If I absolutely had to pick one I would go with a belly button over no belly button look, but that is mostly down to me being a Halo 2 truther. If you prefer the no belly button look then that's perfect too.
Yeah I looked at that render of nakey Thelly, it very much looks like a indentation where a belly button would go. But then again, that same model has the worst boney butt I've ever seen, and all the spikes and chest crest can't be seen on the OG H2 model or any other Sangheili model, so I guess I can ignore some of the stuff from remastered nakey Thelly (I also just prefer smooth, unboney skin without spikes).
I'm still unsure if I should do a little line where a belly button would go to represent an umbilical scar on my future pics (due to me not being a biologist). I think I might just do it on some if it looks good enough.
