Paw Fashion 22: 'Kessler' harness boot
The Paw Fashion Project is starting to wind down I'm afraid, so fair warning. I've got one or two designs left in me for now but there might not be too many more. Just wanna warn all of ya! I always might come back in the future to do the odd one here or there.
Anyway, this boot is based pretty much directly on a pair of Frye belted harness boots that I own myself. The harness boot is a very classic style of motorcycle boot that's been around a long while, and since I wear them regularly myself it seemed like a good style to make available to dragony feets. I think they'd work pretty well as riding boots for either a motorcycle or a horse or other riding animal.
In order to protect one's toes from scrapes and debris on the road, the boot's toes are closed over with steel caps that help them look appropriately rugged and hard core. There is also a deliberate gap in the sole between the toes and the main ball of the paw, meant to rest on a motorcycle's foot peg or the stirrup of a riding animal without letting the foot slip off in the same way that the heel on many real-world riding boots does. The actual heel of the boot is extended in the same way, partially just for style but having the notch there provides the ability for a digitigrade biker to rest their heels on the the pegs for a more relaxed cruising position as well. Never hurts to have options!

I know. But you also do not want you heel to slide through and miss the stirrup entirely so your foot goes too far through it, and you end up dangling with the stirrup stuck somewhere around your shin. This is one of the primary reasons that heels on boots were invented in the first place.
I don't draw every suggestion that I get, and in the case of your idea it sounded interesting but was something I've never heard of and not seen any real-world examples to base anything on. From your descriptions it would probably end up looking more or less identical to the black sock I already posted anyway.
*grins* I like giving the dewclaw the same ornamentation that the main claws get. Dewclaws still need love. ^^ Glad ya like! I'm probably really more of a car person than a motorbike person, since it's harder to fall off and kill myself in a car, but I can't argue with the fun mental image of that. ^^
Glad ya think so! I consider it high praise if you like them that much despite not normally having a thing for paws/feet. :) I modelled these pretty heavily off a pair of Frye harness boots I've got myself, and I love them to bits too and have been wearing them for over ten years I think now. Wonderful boots. ^^
These are definitely a similar idea to that I'd think. :) Based on the practical function of cowboy boots, it feels like you'd want them tall, and with a defined notch on the sole of the boots to anchor in a stirrup (or on a foot peg on a motorcycle) so I've tried to make sure these had that.
