Original Species: Villalarga
The Villalarga is an insectivorous mammal native to the grasslands of Arcadia. It is the larger relative of the minuscule Villabiga. Like its smaller cousin, it goes after insects as its main food source. However, the bugs it goes after are significantly larger than the ones targeted by the Villabiga.
Being roughly the size of a small dog, the Villalarga poses no threat to any humanoid race. It will, however, go after any unattended food if given the chance. Aside from insects, this critter is fond of eggs, fruits, and sweets. It can't be stressed enough, however, that researchers must prevent the Villalarga from getting a hold of processed sugars (candy bars, jellybeans, chocolate, etc.) at all costs. During one of the first encounters with this creature, it stole a jar of gummy worms, and after consuming a few... the Villalarga had a violent stomachache, almost leading to its death.
While it can supplement its diet with the occasional fruit or berry (all of which contain simple, natural sugars), processed sweets seem too much to handle. Thankfully, a medical specialist was present during that initial encounter and the Villalarga was saved.
Remember: don't feed wild animals. Especially not with "people food". They will either get too accustomed to people and end up aggressively demanding food in the future... or they might get sick from it.
