Satan-King and Magulah were two kaiju who appear in Episodes 25 (Grand Double Operation Magulah and Satan-King) and 26 (Two Giant Monsters Battle in Tokyo) of the Spectreman tv series, with Satan King returning in Ep.27 (And the Dead Shall Rise).
_Appearances and Abilities_
Satan-King (Satan Kingu) was a monster brought from space by Dr. Gori from the Star System of Satan Mondos (that's how it sounds in the English Dubbed to me) to subjugate the Earth and destroy Spectreman. The creature was driven only by its desire to destroy and nothing else; sporting a humanoid body, it had reptilian like head with two large fangs in the the lower jaw; yellow eyes with triangular shape pupils; its body was covered in red color rocks, serving as armor. It's color scheme was red with Its head glow a bright red.
Strength was its primary ability, but it was capable to fire a beam from its mouth and cast the land and sky in darkness. The Monster's roar was of akin to a screeching stock car tires (which I was shock to learn from Spectrewiki when reading this part) comes from Hanna Barbera's own sound library, which the Spectreman production used a lot of.
Magulah (Magura) is an ancient kaiju that had slept underground for millennia and was awaken by the crash of Satan King; at first docile, Magulah becomes hostile to Satan King, Humanity and Spectreman for the death of her child and in her grief goes on a warpath. She resembles an Iguanodon, with a three horn crest on top and row of lumps running down the back to the tail.
Despite her once docile nature, she proved to be a monster stronger than Satan King, forcing Gori to retrieve him after the latter nearly had Spectreman on the ropes; Magulah could also burrow underground, fired laser beams fired from her horns and used its tail to hit its enemies as well to grab them with it. Her Roars are slow down Chicken Clucks, but she can also cry with the deep sounds a moaning when in grief.
The Magulah suit would be re-modified into the kaiju Moonthunder, for episodes 34 and 35, while Satan King will be reuse and modified to be Devil in Ep.42.
Fun Fact: the Japanese name of Magulah is shared with Ultraman Subterranean Kaiju Magular, one of the many Kaiju created from the original Baragon Suit.
_History_
The world is on alert as a Red glowing Meteor is on a crash course with Earth, its impact point establish to be near the Fumita Volcano; George, Margaret and the others travel there to witness it; It's impact causes a great earthquake and land slides and the Monster Satan King emerges from the crater, starting its march of havoc across the land in direction to a near by hotel; Arthur, John and Otto run back to warn the others while George and Margaret stay to wait for Chief Kurata, but George wanting to give time for the evacuation, breaks away from Margaret and transforms into Spectreman to face the new monster.
The Battle was not as easy as our hero hoped for and throughout the confrontation, Spectreman's physical attacks and techniques proved ineffective on Satan King, while the later, by power of sheer brute force along, tramples Spectreman, piercing his right arm with an antenna. Down and beaten Satan King crushes the arm further, this impedes its usage, then tries to finish Spectreman with one last blow when, with an Eruption, the land is stricken by another Earthquake the beast falls; Spectreman is teleported away by Overlord and shortly after that the Monster Magulah emerges from the ground, awaken by the chaos of the crash and the battle.
Angered for having missed its chance, Gori orders Satan King to face Magulah, but the battle is a reverse of fortunes, as Magulah fights with as much vigor and strength than Satan King. Elsewhere, Margaret finds a wounded George on a rock and helps him swim away. Looking at the battle, George sees the severity of the situation with the battle and eruption and the two take their chance to escape; seeing how bad the battle is going, Gori orders Satan King to retreat as well.
Not long after, George and Margaret come to a section of land where they find an egg, containing a dead baby Magulah; killed by the Meteor Impact. Despite George's disdain for monsters, Margaret comes to feel sorry for Magulah's lose, but the two ran off as she comes to see her egg only to find the baby had died: Magulah in grief breaks the Egg and lays her unborn child to rest, but goes berserk soon after and attack everything on site. George and Margaret reunite with Kurata and the other as the JSDF try to take her down but to no avail.
George separates from the group again and transforms into Spectreman trying to control the monster without bring it harm, knowing it's driven by grief, though without a functional arm, he is unable to stop Magulah anymore than he try when facing Satan King; it damage arm been trample and crush with a boulder at one point. Trying to help, the JSDF fire a barrage on Magulah to distract it from Spectreman and stunned the creature by blasting all the Ammunition Trucks in front of it; though not wounded, Magulah retreats underground and Spectreman flies away while Gori has Satan King under treatment.
George is found by the group, far more busted than before – while wanting to take him along for attention, he tells them to follow the trail of the Magulah, as it still seeks revenge for the death of her son. They follow his advice, allowing George to contact Overlord, about his situation. The latter provides a weapon – the Spectre Gun – to help him to face Satan King with, but recommended to train its power first and Spectreman begins to train with the new gun, as Kurata's group follows the Seismic readings of Magulah traveling through, with the beast derailing a train on its way to Tokyo, just as reports come in of Satan King been there unleashing his onslaught of destruction on the city.
After determining the training to be successful, Overlord reports of the Monster attack and Magulah's direction towards it; Spectreman flies to meet the in combat. As Satan King repels an attack from JSDF Jets, Magulah emerges from the ground for round two with its mortal foe, but this time, power by Gori's treatment, the King takes down Magulah then succumbs the land and sky in Darkness. Then it grabs Magulah by the tail and tosses her; the grieving mother turns around and fires its horn beam onto King, having no effect; Satan King pounces on Magulah and after trampling her for a bit, Satan King tries to finish her off by grabbing a building when Spectreman arrives. Using his Nebula Slice on them, he calls their attention and then flies away with the two angry Kaiju on his tail, leading them away from the city where they won't harm anyone.
He leads them to a mountainous region to carry out the final battle, where Satan King is the first one to face the Cyborg; Spectreman have their battle with the hero using the mountains as cover, getting a couple of potshots on the monster. Satan King even tries to sneak behind Spectreman only for the Cyborg to react fast when catching a glimpse of the attack on a reflection in a puddle, the irate kaiju tries to blast the hero with Mouth Beam, but the hero avoids it. After a prolong game of hide and seek, Magulah makes one final charge towards Spectreman allowing the hero to show the full deadly potential of the Spectre Gun, blasting it to pieces and then blasting those pieces into pieces. Gori can only feel exacerbated at another defeat.
With Satan King out this left Magulah as the only other major threat; Spectreman tries to reason with the monster as the one responsible for the death of her Child is dead and begs it go home, but blinded by her emotion of grief Magulah refuses to listen and persists to fight. Seeing a hotel with panic people running away, she goes to attack them; Spectreman tries to stop her, only to be beaten up some more, not even the power of the gun able to dissuade her from her charge; Magulah tackles Spectreman and the two fall of a cliff and into the sea, with Magulah dying by drowning.
After the battle, George is looking to the sea, thinking she found peace with her offspring in the after life.
Not long after the events between Satan King and Magulah, Gori revives Satan King in Ep.27 (And the Dead Shall Rise), where it along with five other revived Gori Kaiju were used to test the strength of the new Gori Cyborg, Silver Robo. Unfortunately, Satan King was the fist one of the bunch to be immediately killed when facing the Revive Baronsaurus; after knocking Baronsaurus down, the monster jump over it, only to land on to its horns, been impale by them.
