Blackstone and the Creation of the Grey Realms
In the beginning, there were the Five.
They became Earth, Fire, Water, Air, and Ether - the primal elements, the ver stuff of creation. They became nature itself - the Five become One - and thus a new plane of existence was born: the Grey Realms.
However, bereft of guidance or inspiration, the various aspects of the Realms and its newborn progency failed to coexist harmoniously. It was unstable, threatening to tear itself apart – it seemed doomed to destroy itself, one way or another… but what seemed an inevitable conclusion was averted by the arrival of a man. A wanderer between worlds, this man was the first outsider to arrive in the young world, heeding the call of its spirits.
He offered a solution to the Five become One, and so they awoke the very spirit of the Realms – the entity known as Theglavwen, to aid him. By diplomacy and force, the two forged a peace between the feuding denizens of the world before the man then put into place a ruling order over not only all the sentient races, but the very metaphysical fabric of the Realms – Three Seats representing the three essential forces of reality: Order, Chaos, and Balance.
The man took for himself the Seat of Balance and, as far as anyone can tell, there has been no other. Though many argue the legendary figure who brought stability to the Grey Realms could not possibly be the same as the man who currently holds the title, through history he has never been seen to die, age, or be overthrown, despite sometimes leaving the Grey Realms – even for ages at a time. While he is rarely – if ever – seen to make claim to any official authority, never can there be any doubt that the highest authority in the Realms is indeed his, and his alone. No one knows the man’s true name – he’s known only as the Lord of Blackstone Manor.

On a whim, I decided to illustrate the creation story for my husband's D&D campaign setting. It does show up eventually in the comic I've been doing for it... but not until something like page 277 XD Honestly, I kind of was just in the mood to paint something spacey :b
