Something my therapist said.
"The abuser doesn't get to decide what is abuse and what isn't. If you feel like you've been abused and mistreated, they have no right to tell you that you haven't. They can disagree with you, but they don't get to determine how you feel about things. And the thing about people with autism, is that they can learn. They may learn differently, but they can learn. And they can also be the abuser. If you've tried multiple ways to correct that behavior, but they keep doing it, then absolutely autism can be weaponized as an excuse. If they don't want to correct a negative behavior that hurts people, and they keep using autism as their excuse to keep hurting, then yes absolutely it is weaponized. You shouldn't have to keep blaming yourself for someone who's hurting you, especially if you're tried multiple ways to communicate and correct the issue at hand. Some people don't want to change. Some people don't want to move out of their comfort zone, even if it hurts people around them. It is selfish? Absolutely if it's causing pain to others. But you can't force someone not to be selfish. It's best that you move on, and let them continue to be abusive, hurtful, and miserable. At some point you have to realize that your feelings matter too."
