Buck Brothers: D-Day Commemoration (6/6/24)
Today in the Vexillological Corner...
Today is D-Day, and I drew the flags in their current state with the Fifty-Star ๐บ๐ฒ American Flag. I also drew the flags of ๐ฉ๐ช Germany, ๐ฉ๐ฐ Denmark, ๐ฌ๐งThe United Kingdom, ๐ฑ๐บ Luxembourg, ๐ณ๐ฑ The Netherlands, ๐จ๐ต France, Normandy (No Flag Icon), ๐ฎ๐น Italy, and ๐ง๐ช Belgium for being the largest seaborn invasion in world history. About 160,000 troops crossed the English Channel. From within more than 5,000 landing and assault vehicles, Allied soldiers from Denmark, Norway, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Germany landed on the shores of Normandy and traversed beaches covered in landmines, wood pikes, tactical military obstacles, and barbed wire.
"These people gave us a chance and they bought time for us so we can do better that we have before." - Eisenhower
