One of the more underrated perils of delving. One DM made the threat scarier by the party first seeing skeletons moving toward them and trying to use a lot of their undead-fighting dinguses, but the skeletons kept coming closer, until a perception check within danger-close distance showed the inanimate bones held upright in a transparent medium -the geltanous cube!

This might not be your thing, but since you like fat characters.
It could be interesting this kind of Gelatinous cubes, instead of dissolving like acid, it consumes the body fat 1st.
So depending on the mood for the pic or use of these. A character that is pulled out too late ends up slim and no longer fat.
This could be an interesting body shift, or just as detriment for the character as if it was a normal acid consuming cube.
