The inflatable arthropod drone species that was (if I understand right) the brainchild of Finalcord is something that's stuck around a lot in the minds of me and a few other mutuals with strong interests and investments with all things cool bug-related. And after several years of ogling them there's finally been a bit of a push to go full donut-steel about them and create characters of our own based on the theme, mainly thanks to my good mutual fluidbias breaking the ice on such efforts with their scuba spider drone OC, as seen in their currrent avatar.. And it may've taken a few nights of struggling with leg perspective angles and months later of a day to actually color the damn thing, but here we are now with the piece completed (do kinda regret a lack of seam lines, but not all bug drones have that so there's that.)
No real bio to give at this time, but I've at least come up with a name and designation, and something of logic behind this type of bug drone. I imagine Queen Drones aren't so much absolute rulers of their kind, but they likely would hold high authority among the the bee-style drones at least, but would also be fairly "hands-on" as far as their work goes. That big abdomen is probably multipurpose in carrying and dispensing substances, maintaining and building stuff, as well as handling gaseous storages in the inflation-catering spirit of this species archetype (probably could play a queeny role in replenishing drone energies as well). Plus I like to think the mandibles have a bit of bite and functionality as well, dispensing stuff out the attic as well as the basement, so to speak. As far as AD-27, casually known as Rosalynn, themself, only time, casual writings and a bit of roleplay will likely tell.
My coloring process is still generally working as well, though I wonder if I should standardize my lighting/shading a bit more. Still feel like spots are a little bit sloppy still. May come back and rework details again if it bothers me enough, but I'll try and lay off that for now. Plenty of other things I could be working on to add to my portfolio here. Stay tuned, but not at the edge of your seats. This bat-channel does not stick to a bat-time.
