I've always liked your writing, and this is a good example of why.

I'm half a century past being 8 years old. I can remember some things about it, but when I read this it come rushing back. Details, ideas, wants and wishes that seemed so important then. It's hard to draw those memories out. But a story like this coaxes them back effortlessly. And I just get lost in it.
