To the best of my knowledge, the predates Naruto by at least 5 years...If not more.

I think I did this back when it was jusr pokemon Red and Blue ^.^;

Well. Kenny probably just wore Gamera down with his other Pokemon until he finally succeeded on using a pokeball to capture him.

I just realized, the makers of Poke Balls are cleaning up since you can't reuse them after an attempted capture!
