Man this would suck so much for him. Visit his dad who is barely older, and while there his mom AND friends age really fast compared to him.

Oh yeah, it really sucks for a whole variety of reasons. We haven't even gotten into WHY he's visiting his dad yet, or for how long! (Although, observant viewers may already understand the why if they caught certain details on page one...)

Yeah, that is exactly what's going on! Nate lives on Nova Ring, a colony built around a black hole reactor! Esmè left the colony before she realized she was pregnant, so Emery's entire life up to this point has basically been about five months or so for his father. :P

The scientists in me has an enormous amount of questions, but I'll just ask this one. Where's that sunlight coming from?! How they be getting sunlight in the event horizon of a black-hole! I wanna chuck it up to furry logic, but I also wanna see and elongated star just spinning near the colony

So, the scene being depicted on this page, a concert in a starship out in space, is nowhere near Nova Ring. Emery is in an entirely different star system right now, this is a galactic society here. :P

That said, you may have noticed that there appears to be sunlight on Nova Ring itself on earlier pages. To explain that part, Nova Ring doesn't actually have a star at all. The 'sunlight' is a product of the black hole reactor at the center of the ring. To get a sense of how it works, go to YouTube and do a search for 'Kurzgesagt' and 'black hole bomb'. You should find a video about black hole reactors and their potential uses for far future societies.

With this in mind, I'll ask you to forgive me if I make any grievous scientific errors as I build and tweak this world setting. I am not a scientist! Just a dude who wants to tell a good story. :P
