Initially I drew this for myself, so that I would have something to rely on when I deal with Eli,
then I decided that you would also be interested in watching it ✨

I fully recognize that this is your art and your choice and that this is fiction.
The human section is small compared to the rest of the body ? It expect the centaur to rely upon the horse section for heart and lungs, both placement and size.
Although having just looked up a size of horse’s trachea, it’s fill most of a humans neck.

On my Centaur I put most of the lungs, (and all other major organs) in the horse barrel with some proto-lungs in the human torso that went between the human head to the equine lungs where if the centaur was not exerting its self it could easily breath. I added a sort of blow hole between the chest and neck. When the mouth and nose did not have enough area to bring in enough air the blow hole could be opened up and bring in far more of a volume of air going into the equine lungs sort-of bypassing the human torsos proto-lungs.
In the human torso it was given more muscles so it could more support its own full human and equine body weight. This also makes centaur far superior with regards to using bows as they could draw a heaver weight bow than humans could.
I also have a small secondary hart in the human torso but its only meant to help pump blood into the brain and it is not able to support the entire centaurs body with blood. If the smaller hart was damaged the centaur could survive but with difficultly as the brain could be damage by the lack of Oxygen. If the equine hart was lost the centaur would parish though possibly slowly if there was not a loss of blood.
