the comics are one possible future for max and chloe while Double Exposure seems to be in a different future.....my best theory is that at the end of Life Is Strange 1 when players pick to save chloe they actually ended up creating two nearly identical "save chloe" timelines in one of those "save chloe" timelines max's powers freak out forcibly pulling her from one reality to another against her will until she ends up in the untouched timeline where rachel was never murdered (the comic book version of the save chloe timeline) and the other timeline max's powers didn't freak out and she was able to suppress them long enough for them to evolve in the events of Double Exposure (but regardless i'll likely have to post a updated version of this when Double Exposure comes out)

chloe is dead in the save arcadia bay timeline so just like with Life Is Strange 2 and Life Is Strange True Colors there will be a version of Double Exposure's story where she is alive and one where she isn't and the developers pretty much confirmed it in a interview by saying "Double Exposure will be respectful to both endings of Life Is Strange 1" so for people who saved chloe at the end of the first game i imagine during Double Exposure she'll be off somewhere else doing something while max is having her new adventure and for the people who saved the town at the end of the first game chloe will just be dead in Double Exposure (but if Marvel and DC have taught us anything about fiction it's that everything is canon if the franchise is a multiverse) which is why i never understood why some fans argue over which ending is canon in the first Life Is Strange because they are both canon
