Day 1
He couldn't believe this was happening to him.
The day started normal enough. He strolled through a forest, took a nice nap, and was taking a nice bath in a clear lake.
But after getting out of the water he heard a strange sound, and quickly managed to dodge a net that flew towards him. The dragon realized that he was surrounded by a big group of soldiers.
Before he could ask anything, they charged at him, swords and spears raised while the mages prepared their attacks. Most of his enemies stood no chance against him. He shattered swords with his claws, bit spears in half, and crushed armours with a tail whip while small scratches quickly healed.
Normally, he would have simply incinerated the group, but thanks to his bath, his fire breath isn't usable for a few minutes. He had no doubt that they knew this.
With the number of soldiers shrinking, Zira already felt victorious.
His enemies got desperate and scared. The mages fired every paralysis and binding spell that they knew at him, but they simply bounced off of his magic resistant scales.
But right as he opened his maw to strike down another soldier with a bite, a young mage got a lucky shot in and fired a stunning spell right into Ziras throat.
Not being blocked by his scales, the spell caused him to freeze for a moment. While the magic wasn't particularly strong, it proved to be effective enough to slow the mighty dragon down so that the rest of the soldiers could wrestle him into some metal restraints.
After muzzling him and celebrating their victory by pridefully stepping on his nose, they took care of their injured comrades and dragged him to the dungeon he finds himself in now.
Zira shifted his head and tried to wiggle his body around, but there was no escape from his uncomfortable restraints. Trapped in a contraption that perfectly fitted him and forced his body in a helpless stress position, he knew that this assault was long planned. What he didn't know was why they wanted to capture him in the first place.
Day 3
He was still trying to break the metal that was holding him down.
He wasn't surprised as he figured out that the restraints were enchanted to prevent him from using magic, but it still frustrated him.
And as much as he hated the position he was in, not knowing why he's in it in the first place was even worse.
They used nets and paralysation spells at him, and the actual weapons were never aimed at his vital spots. And after he was stunned, they could have easily ended him, but they didn't.
They wanted him alive. They wanted to lock him up in this dungeon.
Why was he here?
He didn't attack anyone, didn't eat any livestock. He didn't even interact with anyone in this region, but for some reason he was detained like a dangerous animal.
Day 12
Zira had given up on trying to break his bonds, or to wiggle out of them. He knew it was hopeless.
Instead, he was spending his time thinking.
His kidnappers knew a lot about him.
They knew his body size and made special restraints for him, they knew he couldn't breathe fire after his swim, and since not a single soul had entered his cell yet, they knew he didn't need food or water to survive.
“Who are they?”
“What do they want from me?
“What is going on here?”
His train of thoughts and questions got suddenly interrupted as he heard the sound of a heavy metal door being unlocked and footsteps coming closer…
