I can kinda see the perspective of Webings and the salty one. This is the first time someone is gone like that and it's not just "friend". What Lopa had with Ka and to a lesser extent Moi was much deeper.

Well, Lopa is dealing the guilt as well as (if not more so than) the grief. Pollon probably feels a little guilt for tackling Lopa instead of Moi at the end of Chapter 1, but he misread the situation honestly. Lopa intentionally let Ka escape, and couldn't stop Moi from following; she feels both their losses are her fault in a way she cannot articulate to anyone else
