Full name: Only name given as Milamina, conversationally shortened to "Mina."
Species: Fossa (Cryptoprocta ferox)
Country of origin: Unknown. Madagascar would be the obvious guess.
Age: Unknown. Possibly around 30.
Gender: Female
Pronouns: She/her
Sexual orientation: Unknown. Has not been observed to pursue romantic relationships.
Occupation: Sailor / freebooter
To understand the subject, we must refer to "Victor".
A mysterious saber tooth tiger with an unknown means of temporal transport, Victor often shows up in history as varying forms of ruthless but effective outlaw. As of the present excursion (1710 A.D.) he is leading a growing band of pirates. Consistent with how he pursues these roles, Victor punishes disobedience ruthlessly, but those who serve him well are richly rewarded—he presents with an uncanny ability to “see the future” and his appearances are frequently accompanied by local legends that he has supernatural powers.
“Mina” abruptly appeared on this scene and quickly gained her captain’s confidence, and he seems to be keeping her on as his close advisor. The crew members we have interviewed thus far do not fully trust her, but they have no case to bring against her. She is extremely effective as a pirate, unafraid to bloody her teeth and claws when her captain commands it.
Behind these scenes, the subject is acting as a guide of sorts for Victor. In between his raiding of trading routes, Victor is scouring the ocean for a “legendary treasure” that he wants for his private use. My assistant and I believe we have a positive lock on this "treasure's" identity, and if we are correct, we have every reason to infer that this "Mina" is yet another temporal anomaly. However, it doesn't appear we'll get a proper resolution to our doubts unless we can speak to her at greater length—preferably at the point of a phase distortion pistol.
Regardless, whatever tales the subject has told her captain, he has bought into them far enough to follow her lead. If my hypothesis about what they are seeking is correct, the NECESSITY will hopefully alert us to any catastrophic alterations to the timeline. I do not plan on leaving this era until the eventuality I dread is prevented.
I want my Box back too. At least I know who made that.
Shrewd, aloof, and quiet under normal circumstances; aggressive and fierce when fighting. Rarely smiles unless things are really going her way.
Subject is playing the part of a lone sailor who was born in (and exiled from) a faraway land and has sailed to many others. We don’t know what life story she gave Victor, but he’s the only one she needs to convince. She’s hasn't come here to make friends.
She is fiercely independent and transactional, only obeying authority when it suits her interests. This is, conveniently, an attitude that Victor can understand easily. Whether or not she began dabbling in piracy out of necessity, she keeps with it because she’s good at it.
Subject carries herself with a wary yet confident demeanor and moves in a “catlike” fashion. She can prowl silently and is an adept climber, enabling her to observe or even strike from above. Several interviewees have noted that she bears the air of an assassin.
NECESSITY Alert: Genetic survey inconclusive. DNA samples inconsistent with Cryptoprocta designation. Further analysis required.
Full biometrics are unavailable. Subject is about the height of a standard island dwarf wombat.
She has all her limbs, but is missing one eye, and the surrounding tissue is scarred. Absent eye is covered by a patch at all times. Body scarring is consistent with significant combat experience. Ears are somewhat ragged.
Remaining eye is definitely fossa-like, with a brown sclera and a catlike pupil. Sclera presents with a reddish tint, as if some substance (blood?) is seeping into it. Fossa eyes normally reflect orange light, but hers glow red.
There is a mark of sorts on the center of her back, a kind of brand or tattoo, though it seems to be of a different nature from Victor's bicep markings. It takes the shape of a capital Ω surrounding a downwards pointing triangle. No matches in historical database.
Observed clothing is simple and masculine, appropriate for nautical work and fighting. Sully, perhaps keenly, has observed her lilac purple sash and suggested this must be her favorite color.
Consistent with the pirate habit of wearing one's wealth (as it's the only way to be sure that it's safe), subject is usually seen with jewelry: rings, earrings, necklaces and the like. Though she is not overburdened with them and takes them off when they are inconvenient.
Seeming preferred weapon is a curved cutlass, but has been observed using pistols of varying sorts.
Subject carries a flask with her at all times, strapped to her belt, from which she has been seen sipping. I have the sneaking suspicion that it's not rum. In fact, I insist
