Niori (pronounced Nee-Ori) is a dark spirit from the Ori Universe, and takes a similar role as Ori does in both the Blind Forest and the Will of The Wisp. Born from the Spirit Tree in Nibel as one of its fallen leaves off of it, he was a light spirit that was lost during The Great Storm, an event that caused great catastrophies there after such as the Light Ceremony--which caused a great beast by the name of Kuro to attack the Tree at it's core. At this time, many light spirits began to die slowly--feeling the end of their lives were at stake, and Niori was no exception.

During Niori's time as a light spirit, he was blown away all the way to Willow's End in the Niwen region. At that time, Niori was near the Willow Tree, also known as the 'Spirit Willow' of Niwen, struggling to find a place to rest before dying, losing his light. In that tree's last moments, knowing it would die of age--it saw Niori, the poor spirit on the verge of death. The Spirit Willow decides to use what was left of her strength to give life to Niori. Unfortunately, the tree began to die in the process, and her transaction of power didn't fully completely. As a result, while Niori was revived from the dead, his skin no longer emitted light.
