Ugh o.k. I apologize for this one not being "pretty" ( Hey it still runs like a scalded cat ! )
What you are seeing here ia a Bulgarian patter AK-74 in 5.45 x39 , the ONLY modifications I have made to this gun are a Red star Arms trigger which has been polished to improve trigger pull smoothness and I have taken the creep out of it ( not that there was much to begin with.) added Plasti-dip to the charging handle ,that and I added a Romanian wire "triangle" style stock some people HATE this .
the people need to RTFU!, toughen the (CENSORED) up cupcake , this isn't exactly Halo or Call of Duty this is real bloody life!
"AHEM " O.K. O.K. Rant mode off..."
They claim "you can't get a cheek weld" and " it's so uncomfortable" , they need to toughen up , it works , it's compact , fairly light and doesn't get in the way, simple . stated. utilitarian.
Just the way Kalashnikov liked things no B.S. , no fancy crap no bells and or whistles just effective simplicity.
The ugly handguards are American made and well, kinda crap I will be switching them out to a better set soon.
I am going for a "K.I.S.S." rifle with this one , no dead weight no "tacti-crap" no needles $#it I see on so many other AK pattern weapons around the U.S.
Main rule , if it's heavy or doesn't serve it's purpose better than anything else out there or better than expected it's NOT going on this rifle, no if's and's or but's... the user MUST remain un-encumbered the rifle MUST be light and fast.
I "might" add a U.S. palm pistol grip to replace the notoriously thin pistol grip ( ZERO weight gain) I will be running Bulgarian polymer magazines and I am actually debating the original flash hider/ muzzle brake. over a lighter model.
I will be taking this very rifle when it is done to train in the Kalashnikov rifle gunfighting class hosted by Gabe Suarez, I look forward to returning to train and bust my hump squeezing the most potential out of this rifle my gear and myself most importantly.
The AK-74 pattern is surprisingly accurate lightweight and low recoil , ANYONE can fire this gun, ammo is plentiful , and it's built like a tank.
the 5.45 x39 round is light yet packs a punch a little better ( very debatable ) than the 5.56 round downside is that Russian 7N6 ammo is corrosive by nature ( the primers are at least ... ) so CLEAN YOUR GUN! after firing be it 1 round or 1,000 , neutralize the corrosive salts and clean it.
( within reason of course...)

The trigger isn't quite as nice as an AR trigger out of the box, but the beauty of the red star package is it's adjustable , with just a few turns of an Allen key it can be tuned , and with some polish any gritty feeling can be taken out of it , it's quite possibly one of the best modifications one can do to an AK platform firearm.
For the upcoming Saiga .308 revision I am working on it's definitely a "must-have" item , as I am following Sua Sponte and Gabriel Suarez' theory of "guerrilla sniping".
Take a simple light lower end "everyman's rifle" , and accurize it , make it reasonably concealable , reliable under ALL conditions keep it fairly light for high mobility , keep it to a reasonable budget. ( no $absurdly high priced rifles such as a wonderful yet exorbitantly expensive Knight's Armament SR25 M110 or LWRCI "R.E.P.R." . )
It doesn't necessarily have to Sub-M.O.A." but close enough to preform head shots quickly out to 200 yards and body shots easily to around 800 yards.
T.L.D.R. : The guerrilla sniper rifle concept doesn't have to shoot Minute of angle , just "minute of bag guy".
