Dad with his truck somewhere in Europe (maybe 44). The truck was called "Hope". He called it Hope because the "hoped" it would keep running. It had been built from three wrecked trucks. My dad feared that when they received all this hand-me-down equipment it meant they would be part of a decoy force left to draw fire from the real invasion.

I'm glad to have them too. Really they weren't supposed to have a camera or be taking pictures so these are a rare thing.
This all started after a visit to relatives. My uncle was rebuilding an old M-1 rifle for one of the nephews. This started the stories then a week or so later cousins in 4th grade asked for some help on a history project on a WW2 section. I scanned in some of the photos for them. The history report got an award or something, it was pretty cool, sent it down here on disk.
