Nell Thompson - The "Infinifennec" (2024 Ref) [ORIGINAL]
So...yeah, so what if I'm a day late for "Fat Fox Week" proberbly (what else is new?) buuuuuut here's a new ref for Nell! Finally!!
I had wanted to do more with my 'sona this year and flesh out stuff with her that I hadn't before now AND, it turns out, it's also 10 years since I've had the character in any form (before I finalised her initially in 2017, it was a character I only shared with one or two people for a few years until I slowly developed things enough to feel confident to have her become my 'sona AND a character I openly did stuff with) so I suppose the time was finally right to give her ref a refresh. :3
First off, YES, she's very short. She's a fennec fox, what do you expect? Go look up fennec foxes compared to other foxes and you'd understand, be sensible. x3
Secondly, yeah I'm taking the term "infinifat" (created by fat acceptance activists and used by actual, real fat positive people to describe their sizes in ways that are seperate from the gaze of concern-trolling and purely looking at the experience of being fat as purely based on the person being a "failure" due to their weight) to describe Nell's immobile-fat size rather than "blob" like I used to. Watching the documentary "Your Fat Friend" about fat activist Aubrey Gordon and then starting on her book "What We Don't Talk About When We Talk About Fat" made me realise that even though I always strove to always make this kinda stuff with the veneer of fat acceptance and offering positive and validating representation of fat folk beyond what media have decided were the goalposts to not cross in terms of what are "acceptance sizes", I knew there were things I could do better and things I could do to adapt to (what I hope are) the hopes and wishes of those who're actually living these experiences who happen to actively be a part of the fat acceptance community. I have a lot more plans in expressing this stuff better and using Nell as a vessel to explore these things but it's not really up to me on how well I'm doing with that kind of thing and I invite everyone who understands this stuff better than I to kindly critique my efforts when need be...but for now, I'm excited to be more concious with this stuff I don't feel like this is something very common for stuff like this, let alone for characters as fat respectively as Nell is.
The font choice is no accident, Nell is a huge Care Bears fan (or her setting's equivelent anyhoo) soooooo decided to have that decide that creative decision. x3 Gosh, I have a LOT more stuff to do with Nell, characters around her and of Nell's experiences past and present but I feel like I've capped as much stuff as I feel I can talk about in this description but if all goes well, there'll be plenty more things to look forward to with this stuff, for sure. Oh yeah and if you're still in the dark on what "infinifat" means as a term, errrr...go research with an open mind! Or alternatively, check out Aubrey Gordon's book, why not?

"""Bro""", you fav art depicting fat people and specifically note yourself as a "coomer".
Not to make you feel bad for being attracted to the thing you're concern-trolling over, but it's really rich for you to come to something like this telling me that obese people shouldn't be looked at as people as clearly you're in that special zone of fatphobia where while not seeing them as people, you'd still get off on them as objects.
Empathy is free, maybe go get some.
