Most who follow me know I grew up liking Smokey Bear, reading the comic strip Pogo and liking most 80s cartoons and comics, but do you know who my favorite character is/was?
It's Snoopy!
I used to get my allowance (of a dollar a week) and head down to the local mall (which doesn't exist anymore) and head to B Dalton or Waldenbooks (Neither which exist anymore) to buy the latest trade paperback (which I believe was $2.50 at that time). I learned to read, basically, by reading Peanuts books growing up. I always loved Snoopy as a child. He was cool to me. I collected most Snoopy merchandise, stuffed animals, and, yes, I even had the Snoopy snow cone machine.
How would Snoopy have felt seeing what this little badger has become as an adult? Would he have cared?
LOOK WHAT I'VE BECOME, SNOOPY!

I used to get the paperback books too, it was pretty big here in England in the 70s, then it sort of fizzled out in the 80s
I only got to see all the TV specials in the internet age/online as only the seasonal ones aired over here when I was a kid [Oddly my fave is 'Good sport, Charlie brown' the one with the dirt bikes]

Yikes! Good grief, Bruce! You tore a page out of my childhood! Except in the 70s spending my allowance on every trade paperback peanuts book I could lay my paws on at Waldens Books, and finding a few treasures at thrift shops and garage sales. Snoopy and Woodstock also inspired me to draw, and I could draw the two of them pretty well! I still have all my paperbacks, and other bits and pieces. <3
