I haven’t finished the game yet and merely taking my time on it but I know (spoilers).
——-SPOILERS——-
His arm gets cut off at some point of the VN. Zale feels bad and wanted to probably “borrow” him to restore his hand even if it’s just for a little while.
Tho he would lose any control of his body I guess just having him feel whole again would probably make him feel better.
