Until one goes bad and that set becomes a sink hole ... (which I now have!)

See that tree on the ground in the background? I cut that down yesterday night so the panels could get more light earlier in the day (they weren't producing more than 100W until after 1PM). The tree fell right onto the 8 panels. Luckily, they didn't break or get damaged.

Sweep your panels, any little bit can cut how much power you get out of a set.

I've been spray washing them with the hose. First time I did that, a bunch of pollen (the water turned green) came off.

Yeah, you don't even notice that fine layer of dust/pollen, but you see the power go up a bit after cleaning them (you can also see a boost spraying them on a hot day as you lose some power due to the panels being hot.)

Tilt your panels up so you have airflow behind them so they will cool this will with efficiency and longevity.

Are you using a MPPT charge controler? Higher string voltage means less line loss to the charge controler.

I have a Victron 150/45 MPPT, you don't want the voltage to max out, as you will release the magic smoke. This MPPT can handle 5 of these in series max, but I prefer the headroom with 4 in series.

Four of these would bring voltage at min temperature (-20C) to 104.9V, and at max temp (60C) to 64.2V. Five would be 131.1V and 81.6V. Four in series would allow for 32 panels (8 strings), Five in series would allow for 30 panels. (6 strings). Per https://www.victronenergy.com/mppt-calculator

I'm currently seeing 82-84V with four in series in the summer heat of Texas (100-105F)

Until I get around to putting these on the roof, I'm going to make a basic tilt system using 2x4's and some carriage bolts w/washers. (Looking at https://diysolarforum.com/threads/p.....t-setup.68971/ )

Getting that upper edge 6 to 8 inches as it is now would help with cooling. 6 cinder blocks and 3 4x4s to span between them would work.

I already have 2 or 3 8' 2x4's in my garage. But I would need 10' 2x4's however.
