Introducing my newest character, Vael!
She was a young sheikah scientist interested in studying the mystical and elusive fairies throughout Hyrule! Besides admiring the beauty of fairies, Vael endeavored to learn about their healing abilities in great detail to replicate them for modern uses to the benefit of the people. During her travels Vael happened upon a crystal shard that radiated power, but also darkness.
She ascertained the shard could potentially be a piece of the sacred stone of Din that had become twisted by evil. Vael shifted her focus to studying the crystal to cleanse it of darkness, she sought to do this by applying the healing properties of fairies directly to the object. Her attempts to cleanse the shard with the power of fairies showed promise by diminishing the darkness but never truly cleansing it, forcing her to consider other methods.
During her studies, Vael had read about a fairy fountain that was allegedly abandoned by its great fairy. She journeyed to this shrine to find that the information was indeed true, this came as a disappointment to her as Vael had hoped to see a great fairy and ask for guidance. Though it wouldn't all be for naught, as Vael noticed a shimmer to the water in the fountain, could there still be potency left in this place?
She resolved to bathe the crystal in the fountain, in hopes that the remaining magic of the great fairy would be enough to cleanse the shard. There was a bit of reverence to this place, an almost sacred feeling as Vael slowly approached the fountain to dip the crystal in its waters. As she came upon the last step, the stone beneath her gave way, causing her to fall into the pool with the crystal.
What transpired next would change Vael forever, wrong was her theory that the magic of the fountain could cleanse the crystal but it would transform it, and her. The evil within the crystal had diminished, but what was left in its place was desire; the desire for power, knowledge, and flesh...the first of these desires the crystal would sate itself on would be Vael herself. As if having a will of its own, the crystal began to harness the remaining power of the fountain to achieve its new desire, to form a new great fairy.
Vael felt heavy as the water began to change colors and swirl around her, enveloping her along with the shard in a twilight-colored, crystalline cocoon. Once inside, the shard would infuse her with the magic of the fountain and it's power before ultimately fusing with her. What would be born from this union would be the first dark fairy Hyrule has seen this age.
