Thank you for One Million!!!
Have you ever viewed something that made a strange uncomfortable, yet fiery feeling well up inside of you? Not uncomfortable per se. A kind of feeling that draws you to it. A career, sport or piece of art that keeps drawing you to it when you feel lost? A feeling of ''This is meant for me''
I feel this when I watch any kind of animated short film on Youtube. When I was in primary school I would get my work done as quickly as I could so I could get on the school computer and make animations in Powerpoint, I would use the animation tools on that program to create Pokemon battles with my favorite characters at the time. I loved the idea of working on something big, seeing it get closer to completion every single day, kinda like building a house. I didn't show them to anybody, but I didn't care. I was right where I needed to be, making what I love.
High school was tough. So many external stimuli, choices on where your life could go. It becomes so easy for somebody to lose trust in themselves and to simply choose based on salary, how stable the job market is, if you see yourself ''liking'' working in that field.
I knew deep down I wanted to become an animator. That strange feeling I described earlier welled up inside of me whenever I watched them. It was great, but also so uncomfortable. I knew this clicked with me. But getting there seemed so daunting. There was only one animation college in The Netherlands, and I knew I could not afford going there.
Instead I chose to major in Graphic Design. At least having a degree to ''fall back on''. And whenever I got home from school. I would make animations. I created a walkcycle of a Gator character as practice. I love it so much that I wanted to tie a short story to it. Like climbing the branches of a great tree. One thing led to another, more scenes, a script. Character designs. Before I knew it I was working on my first ever short film, Vending machine. It was not fat fur themed, but I didn't care. I was right where I needed to be, making what I love.
In January of 2019 I finished it. After a year and a half of work. I submitted it to film festivals and it was chosen for a couple! I got to see it on the big screen in April. Which has become a bright yellow core memory. And from that came more films. With ups and downs, other days I trusted myself fully with what I made, and other times I didn't believe in myself so much, and I ended up making what I ''thought'' others would enjoy.
In the end. I have found that part of the kid Inside again, sitting in front of the big computer at school, making powerpoints, not caring who sees it, because he's right where he needs to be, making what he loves.
This piece is also dedicated to Bendor. A friend who voiced Alfie (The middle leopard gecko) in the film. And it's a reminder that even though we will all leave the earth eventually. We keep on living through what we create, and while I can see myself happily getting very old doing this. I hope that even when I no longer can, there will still be those that enjoy these films.
If you have gotten this far into reading, thank you. Perhaps it's because I've had a good week, or because making this piece really made me zoom out and realize how much time has passed since this film was made. Time really flies so fast. I want to enjoy it as much as I can, and I urge you to do the same, the less shits we give, the more fun we can have.
I would also like to thank you for your support. Even moreso if you watched this film. It makes a much bigger difference than you think. And I hope you'll be around for a bit longer. As new film projects are coming 🧡

And thanks to your film "Horns" you are now one of the most sought-after, inclusive and beloved independent filmmakers in the world of independent cinema 😊🇳🇱👍🏻. And btw, congratulations for your "1.000.000 views" of your first video, now you're a super independent filmmaker 😼✊🏻
Congrats, Luke! I still remember that first short film coming out as if it was just yesterday. Your characters are so easy to fall in love with. They're all so cute and bursting with personality. Vending Machine holds a special place in my heart, and I'm looking forward to seeing other animations that are wholesome like that. <3
1 million views? Congratulations Luke. You've earned every view on that video and hold your head high for all you've done for this community. You've inspired a lot of people to discover who they are <3
Whenever I see your posts, they always reignite the flame of creativity with that either being drawing or writing and being on holiday as well kicking it onto overdrive. Although I am worried about getting published but, I'm thinking about writing the second one, and I feel I should reference you or your characters

Heeeck, thank you so muchg man, that is a really generous comment. I have to credit the short films I saw on Youtube for supplying me with that inspiration, the fact this films has been able to help pass that inspiration on to you as well makes me happy. I know you will do some great things with it <3
congratulations. and all my best wishes for you Luke.

Gosh, I remember seeing it many years ago, and thought it was one of the sweetest animations I've ever seen <3.
Honestly, it's always a fun time in general to take a peek at the various short films that pop up on sites like Youtube every now and then, and Vending Machine is certainly no exception! Super glad I saw it when I did, 'cause I can almost guarantee it's how I ended up following your future works :P.
And, needless to say, every other animation from you since then has been just as lovely to watch (of course, had to peek at the videos that came before it too!) so thanks a bunch for giving us content like this all for free. Truly, dude!

Awww maaan. You can't be *this* sweet when leaving comments. Thank you so much, this means a lot to read. I'm happy that this film is among the kind of content you enjoy. Ultimately credit goes to those other animators who post their work fully for others to watch. It's not easy to make an income and have time left for hobby stuff like that. But if they could do it, I figured I could, too.
Thanks, man <3
Thanks, man <3
Ahaha, well, I always like to show where credit is due, so I won't hesitate to shower someone with praise if I feel they deserve it!
Can definitely agree about your animation statement though. To expand my own thoughts on the matter, It's honestly surprising how many high-quality animation films folks may find out there that cost nothing to watch but probably a lifetime's worth of savings to make, along with years or even decades worth of commitment to see its production to completion. It just shows to me how dedicated people are to having their work being seen first and making a profit second -- and that's assuming money is even a goal at all :P.
Still, you're welcome! Needless to say, looking forward to your future works, be it drawings, animations, and whatever else you may put out there for folks to admire! :D

Like I said on YouTube, why shouldn't it get so much love? It was your first ever short film, and to this day, it's still incredible. If you ask me, I say it was ahead of it's time with you as an animator big guy. And if ya ask me a second time, I believe it REALLY sparked that animator side deep inside of ya. Ever since then, your animations have become more fluid. Not only that, but your animations are original. You've come so far since then. You're not only more than just an animator that does weight gain and fat pics of mons, you're also an animator that presses forward and does animations with passion. And it shows too. That's what makes your animations good and fun to watch. And that's what inspired me. Keep up the amazing work, and hope to see more from ya.
Also... rip Bendor. Even though it was short, I still miss him too. At least he lives on in our hearts, and we know he isn't suffering anymore. If you want another voice actor sometime, hit me up. I'll do what I can.

Chris out here being unabashedly sweet with these comments. Thank you so much man. I'm really happy you've been enjoying both this and other film works. While I will always enjoy doing weight gain stuff, It's a great comfort to know that even non-fat related works are enjoyed just as much.
I discovered 'Vending machine' last winter, and rewatched it at least once a week ever since (and the same goes for 'Rules'). The characters, the story, the music, the animation,... it was all so heart-warming, relaxing and wholesome <3
I'll tell you more: after watching it, I started looking everywhere in the streets of my hometown, trying to find a place where I could get a proper hot-chocolate while listening to chill-out jazz music x3

Well done, congrats, and huge props and hugs <3 It has been a ball seeing you grow, succeed and climb higher every year since your chunky gut squeezed between the chairs of reality and sat at the table called the furry fandom.
Happy to continue to watch you and see you around : )
Ya deserve it cutie.

Bendor was one of my oldest friends. Known him since his pencil commission days and he was such a kind, caring soul.
I miss him so much.
People like you are so good to keep his memory alive and the least I could do was immortalize him into Tribal Hunter. It worked.
I would say we did well. If he was still around today I know he would smother you with hugs. Then pizza after <3
Thank you again for everything.

Dream big, and always go bigger! ^.=.^
Congrats on the 1 million views, butterball! Every so often, I go back and watch Vending Machine (Though, since Ben’s passing it’s been a bit harder) and I still stand by all the praise I gave you in my original comment.
You’re a great animator and artist, Luke. Never forget that. ^.=.^

Goodness, 5 years, a million views. Big congrats Luke, I'm so happy I got to see you take this journey from even before that point- and I just love this quote, it rings very solid to me:
"I didn't care. I was right where I needed to be, making what I love."
May I strive to live that experience in my own personal work. Thank you Luke for sharing with us! May Bendor be resting in peace, I'm glad he gets to live on in this film too.

Thank you very much, Artie. You may just be living your own life, working according to your own principles. But it makes a big difference to those around you. People tune in to your stream, seeing you happily working, just being yourself. Knowing in your heart you are enough as you are. It makes others want to do the same
Not sure how I only just found your shorts but they are amazingly well animated and the way you capture nuance and all other little idiosyncracies in life is also amazing! When you described the strange, uncomfortable, yet firery feeling my heart sank. That's exactly how I felt when I watched the first of your vids I found, Bobsled. I honestly didn't think of myself as being into this furry thing, let alone larger ones at that. I couldnt deny the feeling of, why have I denied this all my life? that had come over me. Now I've gone down a rabbit hole (pun intended) and realize what I've been missing and denying myself. Thank you so much 💓. Btw, Horns, made me cry like a baby.
