Tried my hand at Stellaris on it's Steam free weekend thing and honestly, It's like a gift from the gods! Well... apart from the dlc but hey, it's 2024 and games are either overpriced big studio dumpster fires or underfunded indie projects... (looking at you Elden Ring and your 10%off 2 years after release.)Meet the regal, God-Empress Imatine. Starting ruler of my custom stellaris empire. (albeit with a few creative liberties that bring her species a little closer to my vision over the default appearances in game) She is Citriha, a predatory, warrior tribe fox hybrid that made the leap from sapient wildlife to intelligent species almost overnight thanks to a climate crisis on their homeworld and including strange anti-gravity crystals into their diet. (look, the names are keyboard smashes since I wasn't expecting to win the game with them.)Imatine would not live to see the prosperous future of her race, how they would meet fellow aliens, give the gift of star-flight to other pre-space age races. Nor would she see the galaxy united under a federation founded by her people or her empire's banner leading the charge against a rogue machine intelligence bent on sterilizing all sentient life in the galaxy...But with all great things, it has to start somewhere. That... Is why she is worthy of her title, "The Star-ward Howl."~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Obviously since I drew this, you could say I enjoyed playing this game. I also learned something while playing, Having created the Citrihan species, I got attached to them, felt responsible. Even as the Contingency crisis initially smashed my fleets apart and it looked like it wasn't actually worth continuing the match, it got me to think...The human capacity to create is present in all. But it is not 'awakened' like it is in artists, musicians & writers. I... Have a duty to nurture and safeguard the things I create. And I must see them all to their eventual end. Whether that be a victory screen or a simple 5 minute sketch turned 'artwork' like this is.The point is to commit. Put 100% into the work you like to do. Why? Because you like to do it.P.s. Sorry, might be a little too dark on your screen lol~
