D&D Miniature: Lobhark Windwolf
Here are a few views of a miniature I painted a while back, when I was getting into a (at that time) local D&D campaign. While I didn't end up seeing that campaign through to the end for several reasons, I still kept the mini I painted for it, and have been quite pleased with the job I did on it, given that I’m by no means a “master” of miniature-painting.
I also kept my character sheet and some notes about the character. If you’re interested, here are some “pointers” about him…
Lobhark Windwolf is of the Babarian class, with the specialization/path of the Ancestral Guardian ( from the D&D book Xanathar’s Guide to Everything ).
When in the midst of battle, he can call upon the spirits of his tribal forebears to help safeguard his travel/battle companions.
He is/was a member of a great tribe of nomadic clans collectively known as the Kolarvendites, so named because all of these people greatly revered a common, great guardian spirit named Kolarvend, which took the form of an ethereal wolf amidst the winds. More specifically, Lobhark's personal clan within the Kolarvendites was named Windwolf.
In the specific setting of the campaign in which I was playing this character, the Elves of the world had long ago attempted a campaign of conquest of the "lesser" non-Elven races, and the Kolarvendites were survivors of that time, and taught this history from generation to generation, thus instilling a great hostility toward Elves within their culture. However, it was a horde of Orcs, not Elves, that seemed to all but utterly wipe out the Kolarvendites, save Lobhark himself.
With seemingly no fellow tribespeople to rally or follow, and having managed to recover Windfang, Clan Windwolf's heirloom sword, from the ruins of his home, the barbarian set off to journey across the world and pursue a career as a sword-for-hire. Holding his people's values of honor, freedom, glory tempered with humility, and independence as guiding principles for his adventuring career, Lobhark does not take merely "any job," and has often found himself favoring relatively small-scale contracts from people/factions who "clicked" with him over those of a larger scope involving wars, conflicting politics, and such.
Regardless of the exact nature and scale of the job, however, he strives to be as exemplary a man of his clan and tribe as possible, because for all he knows, he's the only one left, and *if* his entire tribe were to pass away from the world when he dies, he hopes to ensure that his deeds and words might nevertheless ensure the survival of their memory.
Lobhark is an especially strong and hardy man, being an outlander long experienced in surviving within harsher environments and against tenacious beasts and foes. He is particularly skilled in athletics, as well as survival, perception, and intimidation.
