The tea didn't work. Raisha was still troubled. She kept thinking about the mysterious human. She didn't understand why he was chosen, especially since he had been in a coma for so long. And most of all she couldn't understand why she had been picked to be his Warden. What did they see in her?
She suddenly sat up in bed, her mind racing with theories. "What am I missing? There has to be a reason. It can't just be random." her thoughts kept circling.
Raisha couldn't sleep, she got up and began a restless back-and-forth pace in her room, racking her brain for answers. She was so occupied in her thoughts that she didn't realize how much time had passed. She finally stopped in front of the window, gazing out at the night sky. She could see the stars shining brightly and feel the cool breeze on her face. As she watched the stars, she tried to make sense of everything that was going on. She felt torn between her desire to know the truth and her fear of what might happen if she found out more.
"What if he never wakes up? What if he's never the same again?" She began to imagine worst-case scenarios. It was terrifying and heartbreaking. The uncertainty, the unknowns, they were all too much for her. She suddenly felt overwhelmed, and her emotions started to overtake her. "What if I can't handle this? What if I mess it up?"
Raisha sat down with her back against the window, letting the cool breeze wash over her. She wanted to be strong and brave but she was scared. This was too much for her. "Why did they choose me? They could have given this task to someone else, someone more qualified."
"I don't feel ready," Raisha finally spoke out loud, her voice sounding small and scared. "I don't know if I can do this," the doubt that was growing inside of her took root as terror gripped her heart. She was overwhelmed with uncertainty and fear. "How can I be a Warden, if I can't even handle my own emotions?"
"Maybe I can't handle this after all, what if I mess up? What if I can't protect and care for Samuel correctly?” Her fear is taking over like a tide, washing away her fragile confidence.
"I'm not going to be good enough. This was a mistake. I'm too weak." The feelings of inadequacy and inferiority took over, she couldn't pull herself together. "How can I be his warden if I can't even get my own emotions in control?" her breath became erratic. "I'm going to fail."
She couldn't stay still, her emotions spiraling further out of control.
The pressure was too much. She couldn't do this.
She needed to do something.
She needed to do something to release the pressure that was building inside of her.
She got up and started pacing back and forth faster and faster, unable to stop. The adrenaline was pumping through her veins as the panic set in.
She couldn't stay inside her room like this.
She needed to get out.
She needed space.
She needed to run.
