There had been cheesecakey cartoon characters before, but this one really set the standard and kicked off the cycle. Which is somewhat ironic. Initially, the MPAA wanted to saddle the movie with a PG rating (which would've killed it at the time it was released) for this character's rather suggestive song and dance. The producers basically said "Guys, it's a mouse in a cabaret number..." and the ratings board consented to their point. How were anyone involved to know that a mouse in a cabaret number was more than just a background gag? What it told audiences was that it was possible for a cartoon to have sex appeal. I suppose I owe those men my very job! Speaking of which, I'm open for commissions.....
