This is not the Black Lincoln Continental that Graham Parker had in mind when he wrote the song with the same title. I'm pretty sure that the Black Lincoln Continental in Graham's song ( which Nick Lowe very successfully covered ) was one of the 1960s era Connies with those snazzy suicide doors.
Or, even better: a black 1940 Lincoln Continental like the one that got shot up in the original Godfather movie.
Still -- a vestige of the the classic Lincoln Continental ornament is still evident in the grille of this late model Lincoln Navigator that I saw parked on the street today. And anyway, at least this one was still a nice, shiny black.
I like rock and roll songs about cars, and as soon as I walked out of The Store and saw this big, glorious chrome display, I heard Nick Lowe's voice in my head, snarling along to Graham Parker's great pub-punk song.
I hope that Graham Parker will forgive me for bogarting his song's title, but, let's tell the truth; there's nothing rock and roll in the title "Black Lincoln Navigator", is there?

Ahhh yes...Commander Cody And His Lost Planet Airmen. Great song, and a great story! That suped-up pup of a Model A with the Lincoln motor even outraced a Cadillac Sedan before it fell apart.
"Papa said son yer gonna drive me t' drinkin' if you don't stop drivin' that Hot Rod Lincoln"

A followup:
I also like the Lincoln song Suicide Doors by The Reverend Horton Heat. Jim Heath plays state-of-the-art rockabilly guitar on that record.
Funny -- there are lots of songs about Cadillacs, but not many about Lincolns, only one I know of about the Buick Electra (Levon Helm's "A Deuce And A Quarter") and not even one about the Chrysler Imperial. I don't count the Chrysler in the B-52's Love Shack; I'm pretty sure that one wasn't an Imperial.
It kind of reflects on these cars' sales numbers back in the day when they were the four classic American land yachts.
