IMPORTANT BASES SALE
Hello, friends!
This time I’ve created a 50% discount on everything in my BASES SHOP to make money for Freya’s treatment ⤵️⤵️
For the last week my horse’s condition became worse. She scratched her neck with trees until it bled and she has a lot of big horrible injuries throughout all of her neck and tail now. We suppose that it's all due to fly bites and itching. I’ve washed her with a special anti-itching shampoo, treated the wounds with meds, but the main problem still isn’t solved. And there is no exact diagnosis.
For those who are not squeamish here is the video proof (please don’t open if you’re too sensitive!).
Now I’m short in funds and I can’t take more commissions cause I already have quite a big queue and I don’t want to make the new customers to wait for so long. My bases shop is my only hope to earn money 🙏
Our plan in treatment now:
- make a scraping and send it to the laboratory to look for parasites or fungus (~ $30-40 I suppose)
- buy a mask (the cheapest option is €9.95)
- buy a special eczema rug (the cheapest one is €69.95 + €24 for the delivery)
- extra strong fly spray (~ $57)
- meds, wound spray, sweet itch lotion (~ $50)
As I counted I’ll need about 30 bases sales (using discount) to cover everything and help my silly pony 😖
We had to wear Freya a collar to herd her separately and not allow her to scratch neck. I don’t like collars at all, but for now that’s the only way to keep her attached, cause she manages to take off the halter.
I understand that I’m the only person who responsible for her health and I’m not asking for donations, I’m asking about just considering buying some bases from my shop with a discount 🥺 Sharing this post will help a lot too! I’ll delete the post as soon as I’ll be able to buy all I need for Freya.
TYVM in advance for the support!
P.S. Her mane and neck is purple cause spray from wounds is purple ^^”

I had the same issue with my horse this year! So sorry to hear Freya is suffering, but have you moved her lately? Or gone near pine trees with her? Apparently the pine tree yellow dust this year is been surprisingly worse on sensitive horses skin, causing itching and redness and even some bumps with liquid inside. Be careful if you have any of those trees nearby her stables or paddock
I'd buy 10 if I could. All I can manage is all my best hopes for you and Freya. She's in the very best hands possible, and don't forget that. Poor thing has some very bad luck at times, but she's very lucky that you're there to look after her.
She's adorable, and seems quite the escape artist, too. Hopefully, she'll be well enough to spend her clever energy on more fun things soon!

Don't give up, it's a long ride but you're doing your best for her. She couldn't have hoped for better hands. But horses are what they are, clever and fantastic but also heartbreakingly fragile and always coming up with new and fascinating ways to hurt themselves. Still, they know you look after them, and they're all worth it.
I think it's summer dermatitis caused by so-called culicoides flies. The only thing to do is shampoo and soothing cream. You can also treat the areas where she scratches with fly repellent and put a fly blanket on her, these are usually inexpensive.
If it really is dermatitis, it is better to treat your horse well because it can come back stronger and stronger every year and end up being there all year round.

We’re thinking about summer eczema, cause this condition became worse from April. It started from some little scratches and turned into this when the weather became really hot.
This sounds horrible.. honestly the last year the situation was so much better. And the treatment was pretty easy. Now it’s worse and all methods that helped a year ago don’t work now.

The main problem is that fly rugs are not very durable. And usually Freya walks all day with other horses from herd. If we’ll wear her fly rug and put her out to pasture - she’ll she will tear it before evening, scratching herself on any tree. Now she’s grazing alone on collar on a rope. This keeps her far from trees but she misses her herd. We’re having a brainstorm now to figure out how to keep her in a rug, away from trees and with her herd at the same time 🙈
