I'd rather not lie, I've perfectly butchered the piece, as it was my first day touching the harpsichord! xP This piece is the theme of Aria Prima, in Pachelbel's celebrated Hexachordum Apollinis! The composer is most widely known as the composer of 'Canon in D'...but that made him a one-hit wonder, obscuring all other masterpieces he had compoeed during his lifetime.
This piece reminds me of an afternoon on late november, sipping some warm tea amidst the cooling breezes. It has a somewhat bittersweet flavour and a pleasant scent of old books and roses – according to my synaesthesia - which gives me some sense of nostalgia. Pachelbel's spirit seems to still linger here, preserved in notes and staves in 1699.
Maybe I'll try playing it again (if conditions meet, of course), including the variations. Honestly Hexachordum Apollinis is one of my most favourite keyboard pieces!
