The living, beating heart of the train. It is both command center and the power source that drives it across the frozen wasteland in search of answers and supplies. Equipped with advanced technology, the best the world before had to offer, it was designed to be a method for cultural exchange, then an ark, and finally a mission. Representing our best hope, she and her crew travel the world looking for the solution. But standing in their way will be armies, weapons, and everything in between.

This looks so good, and it's nice to get to see more of the train. Especially the command center where, no doubt, so much will take place. I really like the high tech feel of it, with all the monitors around, and the crew at their various stations. Not the most roomy bridge anyone ever had, but the seats, at least, look relatively comfortable and the windscreen gives a pretty nice view of the world. The lighting is really nicely done, too, and it's a great image all around!
I just hope they've got a good heating system on that thing!

I offered Wazaga the choice between the situation room (where most of the missions are planned, and the engine. She chose the engine, much to my surprise and delight. I provided a floor plan with my crude drawing skills and told her what I was looking for, and while not entirely what I had in my brain it's close enough, and in some ways an improvement over what I had. But this matches what I've written in the book and related stories, and quite a few scenes occur in this room.
I'm always beyond impressed with the detail Wazaga puts in, not to mention the difficulty of finding people that can do furries and technology equally well. But she manages it consistently, and I will definitely be happy to give her more work in the future. ;)
The train is definitely more comfortable than whenever they have to go outside, that's for sure.

I suppose the downside to having to rely on other people for art is that it almost never entirely matches the picture in our brains. Though I've had people come damn close! It does look really good, though, and the artist really nailed the high tech feel of the train, while keeping it grounded enough in reality you can imagine it's something that might actually be built. I'll most definitely have to keep this one in mind for some of the more technical/sci-fi ideas I have floating in my head.
And I can most certainly imagine that the train would be infinitely more comfortable than the frozen wasteland the world has become. That the crew is comparatively lightly dressed while in the control room is testament to that. Though I'd hate to have to be whatever their equivalent of the fireman is, and keep that heating system - and the train itself - running against such harsh conditions, too!

Well the only real difference is that in my mind the screens were integrated into the wall but this works just as well. Battlestar Galactica and other scifi favorites definitely make me really like the realistic scifi feel so this was just about as perfect as can be. But Wazaga is fantastic to work with and I really enjoy the result, I think it's stunning.
The engineer on the train is perpetually being asked the impossible, and there are a lot of people that keep it running on the lower deck. Still, it's a fun series, and one that so far I have enjoyed working on.
