One paradoxical way beating this is to simply be yourself and simply not care on what others think of you. Sure the "risk" of being exposed is a crippling fear to think about but this only mainly comes and goes with the times. Think of a celebrity that has done something controversial and how many days people egged onto them about it until something else came around. It doesn't last more than a week or so. It's the initial exposure that causes someone to panic in times like these.
To hide yourself is to allow "them" (friends, coworkers, family, and etc.) to continue letting you behave a certain way that is "normal" to them and to limit who you are as a person. Sure there will be people who judge you for these said things once your true self shines out; You'll be a lot happier knowing that there are others who are not only accepting on who you are, but also share the same vibe as you do.

I've found that whenever I share what I am, people usually just nod their head and then never bring it up
. So either it doesn't matter to them, or it's knowledge they lack the perspective to actually comprehend, instead coming to some other separate conclusion. We are subject matter experts in our own weirdness, maybe it all sounds like jargon to them?

I've been writing a long story with a character who feels this way; I often wonder if these sorts of feelings are the kind other people will understand, or if it's just me.
What I'm saying is, this vent art gives me hope for my story. I suspect a lot of people feel this kind of way, but they feel they're not allowed to talk about it, so we can't find each other.
